OSTARA - THE SPRING EQUINOX

Over the next few days in the Northern Hemisphere we celebrate and welcome in Ostara (from Eostre/Ostara, the Germanic Goddess of springtime and fertility), the Spring Equinox, one of the 8 Sabbats on the wheel of the year.

On 20th of March the day and night will be of completely equal length, we will be in perfect Equilibrium - Light and dark, Inner and Outer, Masculine and Feminine - Divine Balance

From then on the days will start to be longer than the nights.

We are stepping into the Light.

Since Imbolc on the 1st of February, we have been cleansing and preparing to welcome in the fresh and abundant Springtime, which has finally arrived. The promise we saw then of new life and re-birth is now fulfilled.

Ostara is all about celebrating fertility, rebirth and renewal in Nature. It is an energetically exciting time.

Ostara is a time to finish what we began at Imbolc, cleansing ourselves and releasing what no longer serves us. It is a time to spring into action.

Now is the time to set yourself goals, so work hard on your manifestation practices at this time. We are now totally ready for the abundant blessings of Spring, so expect things to start happening fast!

We can celebrate and connect to the fertile energies of Nature at this time by surrounding ourselves, our homes and our sacred spaces with flowers.

It is also traditional to decorate with painted Eggs, or do an egg hunt. Eggs represent all-potential, they are filled with everything necessary for new life. It is no coincidence that Easter coincides with this time, the tradition of Easter Eggs comes from these old Pagan traditions.
